BILL CLINTON TO INTRODUCE MITT ROMNEY | Weekly World News

Bill Clinton has accepted an invitation to introduce Mitt Romney at the Republican National Convention this evening.

Clinton is getting a prime-time speaking slot at the Republican convention this evening.? There was speculation that Clint Eastwood would be the ?surprise speaker? but it?s not ?Clint? it?s ?Clinton? that is the big surprise.

?President Clinton oversaw the longest economic expansion in U.S. history, pursuing many of the same policies that Mitt Romney is advocating,? reportedly said Mike Huckabee, a longtime friend of Bill Clinton.? ?As a former governor, he?s the perfect choice to introduce Mitt Romney, and I think he?s going to electrify the crowd.?

Clinton plans to discuss the economy, when he formally introduces Romney before his acceptance speech.

Obama strategist David Axelrod is not concerned about Clinton introducing Romney.? ?I think the RNC is making a big mistake, assuming they know what Bill will say.? We all know he fully supports President Obama, so I would be very nervous if I was in that room this evening.?

Clinton has become close to former Presidents George H.W. Bush and George Bush and has reportedly been ?leaning Republican? for years.? ?He feels that the Democratic Party has gone too far to the left and he has no choice but to join the Republican party,? said a close friend of Clinton?s.

Bill Clinton is particularly close to George W. Bush and they will reportedly campaign together for Mitt Romney.

The Romney-Bill Clinton relationship has always been a smooth one and the two men reportedly get along very well.? Bill is also quite fond of Mitt?s wife, Ann:

Last night, Clinton appeared briefly on stage with Paul Ryan ? several hours before Ryan made his acceptance speech.

Earlier this year, Clinton raised eyebrows by saying that Romney had a ?sterling? business career and appearing to question Obama?s attacks on it.

Some say that Bill Clinton has been undermining Barack Obama?s re-election bid, but he has been doing it in a subtle manner. Not tonight.? Bill Clinton will reportedly make it known exactly how he feels about Barack Obama ? and Mitt Romney.

Bill Clinton aides told WWN that the former President will still introduce Barack Obama at the Democratic convention in Charlotte, North Carolina next week.

What is Bill Clinton up to?

Stocks edge up after latest US growth numbers

NEW YORK (AP) ? Slightly better economic growth and and stronger housing sales helped nudge the stock market up in early Wednesday trading.

The Dow Jones industrial average edged up six points to 13,110 shortly after 10 a.m. EDT.

Major indexes opened slightly higher after the government said the economy grew at a slightly faster pace in the spring than first thought.

The U.S. economy expanded at a 1.7 percent annual rate from April through June thanks to slightly stronger consumer spending and exports. That's better than the initial estimate of 1.5 percent. But it's not enough to put a dent in the unemployment rate.

In other trading, the Standard & Poor's 500 index rose two points to 1,411, while the Nasdaq composite index inched up three points to 3,080.

Crude oil dipped back below $96. Hurricane Isaac made landfall Tuesday night, but its heavy winds and rain aren't expected to damage oil production and refinery operations in the Gulf of Mexico.

The National Association of Realtors said its index of sales for previously owned homes jumped 2.4 percent in July, reaching its highest level since April 2010, the last month that buyers could qualify for a federal tax credit.

A handful of companies reported earnings Wednesday. H.J. Heinz posted a 14 percent jump in quarterly net income, driven by higher prices and emerging-market sales.

Among other stocks making big moves:

? Joy Global sank 6 percent, the biggest drop in the S&P 500. The supplier of coal mining equipment reported results early Wednesday that missed analysts' estimates and also cut its full-year earnings outlook as demand for coal in the U.S. and China slows. The company's stock lost $3 to $50.08.

? Sealed Air Corp. jumped 8 percent, the S&P 500's biggest gain, after the food packaging company said a former Dow Chemical executive would take over when its current CEO retires. The former Dow executive has experience with mergers, and Sealed Air bought a cleaning and sanitation company last year. The company's stock gained $1 to an even $14.

230-Million-Year-Old Fly and Mites Found Preserved in Amber ...

One fly and two mites found in droplets of amber from northeastern Italy are about 100 million years older than any other amber arthropod ? invertebrate animals that include insects, arachnids, and crustaceans ? ever collected.

An international team of paleontologists reports the newly discovered fly and two disparate species of mites, Triasacarus fedelei, and Ampezzoa triassica, in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

?Amber is an extremely valuable tool for paleontologists because it preserves specimens with microscopic fidelity, allowing uniquely accurate estimates of the amount of evolutionary change over millions of years,? said co-author Dr David Grimaldi, a curator in the American Museum of Natural History?s Division of Invertebrate Zoology.

Amber ranges in age from the Carboniferous (about 340 million years ago) to about 40,000 years ago, and has been produced by myriad plants, from tree ferns to flowering trees, but predominantly by conifers. Even though arthropods are more than 400 million years old, until now, the oldest record of the animals in amber dates to about 130 million years.

The arthropods break that mold with an age of 230 million years. They are the first arthropods to be found in amber from the Triassic period.

Two new species of mites are the oldest fossils in an extremely specialized group called Eriophyoidea that has about 3,500 living species, all of which feed on plants and sometimes form abnormal growth called ?galls.? The ancient gall mites are surprisingly similar to ones seen today.

?You would think that by going back to the Triassic you?d find a transitional form of gall mite, but no,? Dr Grimaldi said. ?Even 230 million years ago, all of the distinguishing features of this family were there ? a long, segmented body; only two pairs of legs instead of the usual four found in mites; unique feather claws, and mouthparts.?

The ancient mites likely fed on the leaves of the tree that ultimately preserved them, a conifer in the extinct family Cheirolepidiaceae. Although about 97 percent of today?s gall mites feed on flowering plants, Triasacarus fedelei and Ampezzoa triassica existed prior to the appearance and rapid radiation of flowering plants. This finding reveals the evolutionary endurance of the mites.

?We now know that gall mites are very adaptable,? Dr Grimaldi said. ?When flowering plants entered the scene, these mites shifted their feeding habits, and today, only 3 percent of the species live on conifers. This shows how gall mites tracked plants in time and evolved with their hosts.?

The third amber specimen, a fly, cannot be identified because, outside of the insect?s antennae, its body parts were not well preserved. But now that the researchers have shown that amber preserved Triassic arthropods, they are eager to find more specimens.

?There was a huge change in the flora and fauna in the Triassic because it was right after one of the most profound mass extinctions in history, at the end of the Permian,? Dr Grimaldi said. ?It?s an important time to study if you want to know how life evolved.?

Veteran FBI crime-fighter says "The Wire" rings true

NEW YORK (Reuters) - The new head of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's criminal division in New York, one of the nation's highest-profile law enforcement posts, is used to answering questions about her colorful 22-year career as an FBI special agent.

April Brooks, 45, the first woman to run New York's FBI criminal division, worked gang cases in Los Angeles near the height of that city's crack epidemic.

She was tracking sex offenders and supervising child kidnapping probes in the bureau's Crimes Against Children squad in 2002 when Utah teenager Elizabeth Smart disappeared. She led the thorny investigation into the still-puzzling 2003 disappearance of a Baltimore federal prosecutor.

But it was her work dismantling drug gangs in Baltimore -- at a time when the city's brutal drug trade was drawing national attention from its portrayal in HBO's crime drama "The Wire" -- that still generates the most questions.

"You always, always got that. ?Was it like ?The Wire?'" Brooks said last week, laughing, in her first interview since being appointed last month to the new post by FBI Director Robert Mueller. "And it was. It was pretty close."

"This is just my characterization, but gangs in L.A. are about profit, about dope, about entrepreneurial endeavors. They acquire assets -- cars and houses. The violence in Baltimore, much like it is to some extent in New York, is all about turf and territory and supremacy versus money-making."

In her new job, Brooks oversees white-collar crime and public corruption investigations, as well as criminal enterprises ranging from healthcare fraud to gang investigations and kidnappings.

"It's a tremendously powerful position, but it's one with tremendous responsibility," said Joseph King, a professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice.

"Between all the politicians, the most powerful U.S. attorneys in the country, and of course, the New York Police Department, you've got to balance a wide spectrum of clients and competing interests," King said. "You've got to keep everybody happy."

OKLAHOMA NATIVE

The FBI's New York criminal division has been one of the bureau's busiest in recent years, leading investigations into Wall Street insider trading that have resulted in convictions of Galleon Group founder Raj Rajaratnam in 2011 and former Goldman Sachs board member Rajat Gupta this year.

Brooks, an Oklahoma native, joined the bureau in 1990 at age 22. Assigned to the Los Angeles field office, she began her career chasing white-collar crime tips. Then came the 1992 Los Angeles riots -- six days of violence, looting and arson following the acquittal of four Los Angeles police officers charged with the videotaped beating of motorist Rodney King, following a high-speed chase.

Brooks was transferred into the Los Angeles field office's gang investigations unit, which at the time was consumed with crack-war violence in places such as Compton and South Central Los Angeles. Beginning in 1993, she spent 2-1/2 years building a case against a violent Jamaican drug gang, which resulted in more than 100 convictions in three cities.

"I was young and was just happy to be out on the streets, running sources and gathering evidence," she said.

In Brooks' final case with the Crimes Against Children squad, she prosecuted an American father who fled with his daughter to Italy and was charged with killing his ex-girlfriend when she followed him to Rome. He died of a heart attack on the witness stand during particularly dramatic testimony at his own murder trial.

In 2003, she was transferred to the Baltimore field office, where she supervised gang investigations and where in 2004 she took on the most controversial case of her career -- leading the FBI investigation into the puzzling death of Baltimore federal prosecutor Jonathan Luna.

Luna disappeared in December 2003 and was later found dead in a shallow creek bed near Lancaster, Pennsylvania, with 36 stab wounds. The official cause of death was drowning. Local investigators ruled the death a homicide, and multiple probes were launched.

The FBI has since closed the case, without determination, Brooks said, though a Pennsylvania State Police investigation remains open, according to a spokeswoman. No arrests have ever been made.

"There's no evidence to show that he met his death at the hands of any other individual," Brooks said. "Or that he had seen or been with any other individual that night. You have naysayers and you have a divergence of (law enforcement) opinion," she said. "But again, we turned over every rock. We are confident that there is nothing hanging out there to find."

In 2008, Brooks took over the Baltimore intelligence division, and in 2010 she moved to FBI headquarters in Washington, where she worked in the Inspections Division, which audits bureau investigations and does administrative inspections of field offices.

Last month, she was named head of the New York field office's criminal division.

A football fanatic with a bright red University of Oklahoma Sooners football helmet perched beside professional awards in her new downtown Manhattan office, Brooks is also a rabid country music fan, partially due to her childhood friendship in Yukon, Oklahoma, with a classmate who also made a name for himself - country superstar Garth Brooks.

"No relation," Brooks said, smiling. "Same name, no relation."

Egypt's new leader visits China seeking investment

Egypt's president will meet his Chinese counterpart in Beijing on Tuesday, seeking in his first state visit outside the Arab world to win badly needed investment and expand diplomatic ties.

Mohamed Morsi took over in June as Egypt's first freely elected civilian and Islamist leader after protests toppled his long-ruling, US-allied predecessor.

Egypt has struggled to boost its economy and secure foreign investment since the uprising last year. It still receives $1.3 billion in annual aid from the United States a year, although most of that goes to the military.

Cairo and Beijing will sign agreements for seven major projects, including a power station, a desalination plant, industrial bakeries and Internet development, according to Egypt's assistant planning minister Nabil Abdel Hamid.

Egypt will also propose development of a high-speed train line between Cairo and Alexandria, Hamid told state daily Al-Ahram.

Egypt expert Peter Mandaville said Morsi's visit marked a "broader effort by Egypt to signal that it's going to diversify its portfolio of relationships".

"In the short term I think it's absolutely the case that Egypt, given its own economic situation, is pretty desperate to attract some lucrative Chinese investment," said Mandaville, a professor at George Mason University in the United States.

Unlike Chinese economic support, US aid to Egypt comes with conditions -- a sore point for Egyptians, Mandaville noted.

After his three-day trip Morsi will attend the Non-Aligned Movement Summit in Iran, becoming Egypt's first leader in 30 years to visit the nation.

He will go to Washington next month after attending the UN General Assembly in New York, and Chinese media have highlighted his decision to make Beijing his first official trip outside the Arab world.

"The Egyptian president is indicating that these are changing times for his country's foreign policy," said a recent article posted on the website of the People's Daily, citing analysts. The paper is seen as a mouthpiece for the ruling Communist party.

Morsi's spokesman Yasser Ali said the visit was "meant to attract Chinese investment in Egypt."

Trade between the two countries reached $8.8 billion last year, up 40 percent from 2008, according to the Chinese Ministry of Commerce.

Morsi will meet China's Premier Wen Jiabao, Vice President Xi Jinping and top legislator Wu Bangguo on Wednesday.

Iraq seeks to curb frontier spillover from Syria crisis

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Iraq's military is trying to staunch spillover from Syria's crisis, tightening border controls as its troops exchange fire with gunmen, rockets hit a frontier patrol and Syrian army shells land on an Iraqi border town.

Iraq's army last week took over frontier operations. A border crossing to Syria's Albu Kamal is temporarily closed as Syrian forces backed by aircraft and rebels fight to control the town, which sits on key supply routes from Iraq.

Spillover from Syria worries an Iraqi government struggling to overcome its own insurgency and legacy of sectarian violence. Baghdad acknowledges that Sunni Islamist fighters are crossing the porous border to fight against President Bashar al-Assad.

Syria's 17-month revolt is focused for now on the capital Damascus and Aleppo, but rebels are also battling for Albu Kamal, a strategic town that would allow them freer control of border supply routes.

Local Iraqi officials say Albu Kamal is mostly under the control of anti-Assad rebels, but Syrian security forces still hold a base and airfield outside the town, which keeps Assad's opponents from taking the Syrian border.

"The military base outside Albu Kamal is still under the control of the Syrian regular army, and the Syrian planes and artillery kept bombing the city during the night and this morning," said Farhan Ftaikhan, mayor of al-Qaim, the Iraqi city neighbouring Albu Kamal.

Iraqi troops protecting the porous border were targeted by two rockets near al-Qaim border crossing two days ago, but there were no injuries, authorities said over the weekend.

Iraqi forces came under fire again early on Sunday morning. It was not clear who shot at them. Last week, a stray Syrian army shell landed in al-Qaim, damaging a building, but causing no casualties.

An Iraqi army battalion has taken over control of the frontier from regular border forces as a precautionary measure, said Mohammed Fathi, spokesman for the governor of Anbar province, Iraq's western desert region straddling the Euphrates.

Fearful of the potential rise of a hardline Sunni regime next door, Iraq's Shi'ite-led government has resisted pressure from Sunni Arab Gulf neighbors for Baghdad to take a tougher line with Assad.

Close to Assad's main ally, Shi'ite power Iran, Baghdad finds itself in a balancing act over Syria's crisis. Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki was re-elected in 2010, thanks in part to Iran's support for Iraqi Shi'ite political parties.

Among Iraq's Shi'ite leadership, however, there may be little love for Assad, whose government Iraq had blamed for allowing Sunni insurgents and suicide bombers to cross over from Syria to attack U.S. and Iraqi troops at the height of the war.

The Iraqi Shi'ite leaders are uncertain of the impact on Iraq's own delicate sectarian makeup should Assad fall and a hardline Sunni government come to power. Maliki faces lingering sectarian infighting among Iraq's own Shi'ite, Sunni and Kurdish political blocs.

Neil Armstrong, 1st man on the moon, dies at 82

CINCINNATI (AP) ? Neil Armstrong made "one giant leap for mankind" with a small step onto the moon.

He commanded the historic landing of the Apollo 11 spacecraft on the moon July 20, 1969, capping the most daring of the 20th century's scientific expeditions and becoming the first man to walk on the moon.

His first words after the feat are etched in history books and the memories of the spellbound millions who heard them in a live broadcast.

"That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind," Armstrong said. He insisted later that he had said "a'' before man, but said he, too, couldn't hear it in the version that went to the world.

Armstrong, who had bypass surgery earlier this month, died Saturday at age 82 from what his family said were complications of heart procedures. His family didn't say where he died; he had lived in suburban Cincinnati.

He was "a reluctant American hero who always believed he was just doing his job," his family said in a statement.

The moonwalk marked America's victory in the Cold War space race that began Oct. 4, 1957, with the launch of the Soviet Union's Sputnik 1, a 184-pound satellite that sent shock waves around the world. The accomplishment fulfilled a commitment President John F. Kennedy made for the nation to put a man on the moon before the end of 1960s.

Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin spent nearly three hours walking on the lunar surface, collecting samples, conducting experiments and taking photographs.

"The sights were simply magnificent, beyond any visual experience that I had ever been exposed to," Armstrong once said.

In those first few moments on the moon, Armstrong stopped in what he called "a tender moment" and left a patch to commemorate NASA astronauts and Soviet cosmonauts who had died in action.

Although he had been a Navy fighter pilot, a test pilot for NASA's forerunner and an astronaut, the modest Armstrong never allowed himself to be caught up in the celebrity and glamour of the space program.

"I am, and ever will be, a white socks, pocket protector, nerdy engineer," he said in 2000 in one of his rare public appearances. "And I take a substantial amount of pride in the accomplishments of my profession."

Rice University historian Douglas Brinkley, who interviewed Armstrong for NASA's oral history project, said Armstrong fit every requirement the space agency needed for the first man to walk on moon, especially because of his engineering skills and the way he handled celebrity by shunning it.

?????????"I think his genius was in his reclusiveness," said Brinkley. "He was the ultimate hero in an era of corruptible men."

Fellow Ohioan and astronaut John Glenn, one of Armstrong's closest friends, recalled Saturday how Armstrong was on low fuel when he finally brought the lunar module Eagle down on the Sea of Tranquility.

"That showed a dedication to what he was doing that was admirable," Glenn said.

A man who kept away from cameras, Armstrong went public in 2010 with his concerns about President Barack Obama's space policy that shifted attention away from a return to the moon and emphasized private companies developing spaceships. He testified before Congress, and in an email to The Associated Press, Armstrong said he had "substantial reservations."

Along with more than two dozen Apollo-era veterans, he signed a letter calling the plan a "misguided proposal that forces NASA out of human space operations for the foreseeable future."

Armstrong was among the greatest of American heroes, Obama said in a statement.

"When he and his fellow crew members lifted off aboard Apollo 11 in 1969, they carried with them the aspirations of an entire nation. They set out to show the world that the American spirit can see beyond what seems unimaginable ? that with enough drive and ingenuity, anything is possible," Obama said.

Obama's Republican opponent Mitt Romney echoed those sentiments, calling Armstrong an American hero whose passion for space, science and discovery will inspire him for the rest of his life.

"With courage unmeasured and unbounded love for his country, he walked where man had never walked before. The moon will miss its first son of earth," Romney said.

NASA Administrator Charles Bolden recalled Armstrong's grace and humility.

"As long as there are history books, Neil Armstrong will be included in them, remembered for taking humankind's first small step on a world beyond our own," Bolden said in a statement.

Armstrong's modesty and self-effacing manner never faded.

When he appeared in Dayton in 2003 to help celebrate the 100th anniversary of powered flight, he bounded onto a stage before a packed baseball stadium. But he spoke for only a few seconds, did not mention the moon, and quickly ducked out of the spotlight.

He later joined Glenn, by then a senator, to lay wreaths on the graves of Wilbur and Orville Wright. Glenn introduced Armstrong and noted that day was the 34th anniversary of his moonwalk.

"Thank you, John. Thirty-four years?" Armstrong quipped, as if he hadn't given it a thought.

At another joint appearance, Glenn commented: "To this day, he's the one person on earth I'm truly, truly envious of."

Armstrong's moonwalk capped a series of accomplishments that included piloting the X-15 rocket plane and making the first space docking during the Gemini 8 mission, which included a successful emergency splashdown.

In the years afterward, Armstrong retreated to the quiet of the classroom and his southwestern Ohio farm. In an Australian interview earlier this year, Armstrong acknowledged that "now and then I miss the excitement about being in the cockpit of an airplane and doing new things."

Glenn, who went through jungle training in Panama with Armstrong as part of the astronaut program, described him as "exceptionally brilliant" with technical matters but "rather retiring, doesn't like to be thrust into the limelight much."

The 1969 landing met an audacious deadline that President Kennedy had set in May 1961, shortly after Alan Shepard became the first American in space with a 15-minute suborbital flight. (Soviet cosmonaut Yuri A. Gagarin had orbited the Earth and beaten the U.S. into space the previous month.)

"I believe this nation should commit itself to achieving the goal, before the decade is out, of landing a man on the moon and returning him safely to Earth," Kennedy had said. "No single space project in this period will be more impressive to mankind, or more important to the long-range exploration of space; and none will be so difficult or expensive to accomplish."

The end-of-decade goal was met with more than five months to spare. "Houston: Tranquility Base here," Armstrong radioed after the spacecraft settled onto the moon. "The Eagle has landed."

"Roger, Tranquility," Apollo astronaut Charles Duke radioed back from Mission Control. "We copy you on the ground. You've got a bunch of guys about to turn blue. We're breathing again. Thanks a lot."

The third astronaut on the mission, Michael Collins, circled the moon in the mother ship Columbia 60 miles overhead while Armstrong and Aldrin went to the moon's surface.

"He was the best, and I will miss him terribly," Collins said through NASA.

In all, 12 American astronauts walked on the moon before the last moon mission in 1972.

For Americans, reaching the moon provided uplift and respite from the Vietnam War, from strife in the Middle East, from the startling news just a few days earlier that a young woman had drowned in a car driven off a wooden bridge on Chappaquiddick Island by Sen. Edward Kennedy. The landing occurred as organizers were gearing up for Woodstock, the legendary three-day rock festival on a farm in the Catskills of New York.

Armstrong was born Aug. 5, 1930, on a farm near Wapakoneta in western Ohio. He took his first airplane ride at age 6 and developed a fascination with aviation that prompted him to build model airplanes and conduct experiments in a homemade wind tunnel.

As a boy, he worked at a pharmacy and took flying lessons. He was licensed to fly at 16, before he got his driver's license.

Armstrong enrolled in Purdue University to study aeronautical engineering but was called to duty with the U.S. Navy in 1949 and flew 78 combat missions in Korea.

After the war, Armstrong finished his degree from Purdue and later earned a master's degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Southern California. He became a test pilot with what evolved into the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, flying more than 200 kinds of aircraft from gliders to jets.

Armstrong was accepted into NASA's second astronaut class in 1962 ? the first, including Glenn, was chosen in 1959. He commanded the Gemini 8 mission in 1966, bringing back the capsule back in an emergency landing in the Pacific Ocean when a wildly firing thruster kicked it out of orbit.

Aldrin said he and Armstrong were not prone to free exchanges of sentiment.

"But there was that moment on the moon, a brief moment, in which we sort of looked at each other and slapped each other on the shoulder ... and said, 'We made it. Good show,' or something like that," Aldrin said.

An estimated 600 million people ? a fifth of the world's population ? watched and listened to the landing, the largest audience for any single event in history.

Parents huddled with their children in front of the family television, mesmerized by what they were witnessing. Farmers abandoned their nightly milking duties, and motorists pulled off the highway and checked into motels just to see the moonwalk.

Television-less campers in California ran to their cars to catch the word on the radio. Boy Scouts at a camp in Michigan watched on a generator-powered television supplied by a parent.

Afterward, people walked out of their homes and gazed at the moon, in awe of what they had just seen. Others peeked through telescopes in hopes of spotting the astronauts.

In Wapakoneta, media and souvenir frenzy was swirling around the home of Armstrong's parents.

"You couldn't see the house for the news media," recalled John Zwez, former manager of the Neil Armstrong Air and Space Museum. "People were pulling grass out of their front yard."

Armstrong, Aldrin and Collins were given ticker tape parades in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles and later made a 22-nation world tour. A homecoming in Wapakoneta drew 50,000 people to the city of 9,000.

In 1970, Armstrong was appointed deputy associate administrator for aeronautics at NASA but left the following year to teach aerospace engineering at the University of Cincinnati.

He remained there until 1979 and during that time bought a 310-acre farm near Lebanon, where he raised cattle and corn. He stayed out of public view, accepting few requests for interviews or speeches.

In 2000, when he agreed to announce the top 20 engineering achievements of the 20th Century as voted by the National Academy of Engineering, Armstrong mentioned one disappointment relating to his moonwalk.

"I can honestly say ? and it's a big surprise to me ? that I have never had a dream about being on the moon," he said.

From 1982 to 1992, Armstrong was chairman of Charlottesville, Va.-based Computing Technologies for Aviation Inc., a company that supplies computer information management systems for business aircraft.

He then became chairman of AIL Systems Inc., an electronic systems company in Deer Park, N.Y.

Armstrong married Carol Knight in 1999, and the couple lived in Indian Hill, a Cincinnati suburb. He had two adult sons from a previous marriage.

Armstrong's is the second death in a month of one of NASA's most visible, history-making astronauts. Sally Ride, the first American woman in space, died of pancreatic cancer on July 23 at age 61.

Just prior to the 50th anniversary of Glenn's orbital flight this past February, Armstrong offered high praise to the elder astronaut. Noted Armstrong in an email: "I am hoping I will be 'in his shoes' and have as much success in longevity as he has demonstrated." Glenn is 91.

At the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles on Saturday, visitors held a minute of silence for Armstrong.

For anyone else who wanted to remember him, his family's statement made a simple request:

"Honor his example of service, accomplishment and modesty, and the next time you walk outside on a clear night and see the moon smiling down at you, think of Neil Armstrong and give him a wink."

US astronaut Neil Armstrong dies

Armstrong makes his "one small step"

US astronaut Neil Armstrong, the first man on the Moon, has died aged 82.

A statement from his family says he died from complications from heart surgery he had earlier this month.

He set foot on the Moon on 20 July 1969, famously describing the event as "one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind".

US President Barack Obama said Armstrong was "among the greatest of American heroes - not just of his time, but of all time".

Last November he received the Congressional Gold Medal, the highest US civilian award.

He was the commander of the Apollo 11 spacecraft. More than 500 million TV viewers around the world watched its touchdown on the lunar surface.

Armstrong and fellow astronaut Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin spent nearly three hours walking on the moon, collecting samples, conducting experiments and taking photographs.

"The sights were simply magnificent, beyond any visual experience that I had ever been exposed to," Armstrong once said.

'Reluctant hero'

Mr Aldrin told the BBC's Newshour programme: "It's very sad indeed that we're not able to be together as a crew on the 50th anniversary of the mission? [I will remember him] as a very capable commander."

Apollo 11 was Armstrong's last space mission. In 1971, he left the US space agency Nasa to teach aerospace engineering.

Born in 1930 and raised in Ohio, Armstrong took his first flight aged six with his father and formed a lifelong passion for flying.

He flew Navy fighter jets during the Korean War in the 1950s, and joined the US space programme in 1962.

President Obama described him as "one of the greatest American heroes of all time"

Correspondents say Armstrong remained modest and never allowed himself to be caught up in the glamour of space exploration.

"I am, and ever will be, a white-socks, pocket-protector, nerdy engineer," he said in February 2000, in a rare public appearance.

In a statement, his family praised him as a "reluctant American hero" who had "served his nation proudly, as a navy fighter pilot, test pilot, and astronaut".

The statement did not say where Armstrong died.

He had surgery to relieve four blocked coronary arteries on 7 August.

Sicko (2007): Doctor's Salary in Englang

Sicko (2007): Doctor's Salary in Englang

The clip doctor's salary in englang from Sicko (2007) A report from the AMA into the health of 55 to 64-year-olds says Brits are far healthier than Americans. For every illness that we looked at. Americans had more of it than English. Cancer. Heart disease. Hypertension. Strokes. Lung disease. All significantly higher for Americans. Even the poorest people in England with all the environmental factors that give them the worst health in the country can expect to live longer than the wealthiest people in America. I was wondering. Though. What's it like for the doctors here in Britain. Who have to live under this kind of state control? And you're a family doctor? Yeah, I suppose we'd call them GPs or general practitioners here. Right, so you have a family practice? Yeah, it's an NHS practice. We have nine doctors in that practice. Paid for by the government? Yeah. You work for the government? You're a government-paid doctor. A patient comes to you. Before you treat them, do you have to call the government insurance company before you treat them? No, I don't deal with money at all on an everyday basis. Have you ever had to say no to someone who was sick and needed help? No, never. Have you heard of anyone being in the hospital and being removed because they couldn't pay their bill? No, never. And I wouldn't want to work in that system. So working for the government, you probably have to use public transport? No. I have a car that I use and I drive to work. An old beater? You live in a rough part of town? I live in a terrific part of town. It's called Greenwich.

Sicko (2007): Doctor's Salary in Englang Part 2

Sicko (2007): Doctor's Salary in Englang Part 2

The clip doctor's salary in englang Part 2 from Sicko (2007) It's a lovely house. It's a three-story house. How many other families have to live with you? There's four bedrooms for my wife and my son. It's just the three of us there. How much did you pay for that? L550,000. Yes, almost. So, a million dollars? You're a government-paid doctor on a national health insurance healthcare plan, and you live in a million-dollar home? Yes. I think my friends think we do quite well. Really? How well do you do? I earn around 85,000, including pension. L85,000? L85,000 a year. And that includes pension that they would pay in to me. They probably earn just over L100,000 within my practice. L100,000? So that's almost $ 200,000? Yes, absolutely. The money that we earn, we get paid by what we do. So the better we do for our patients, then the more we get paid. What do you mean? There's a new system. And in that new system, if the most number of your patients have low blood pressures, or you get most of your patients to stop smoking, or you get your patients to have mental health reviews if they're unwell, or low cholesterols, then you get paid more. This year, if you get more people that are your patients to stop smoking, you'll get more money, you'll earn more? Oh, yeah. Absolutely. So doctors in America do not have to fear having a universal healthcare? No. I think if you want to have two or three million-dollar homes and four or five nice cars and six or seven nice televisions, then maybe, yeah, you need to practice somewhere where you can earn that. But I think we live comfortably here. London is expensive, but I think we live comfortably. You're getting by OK on the million-dollar home, the Audi, and the flat-screen TV? Yeah, we're coping with those.

Detox Products and the Importance of Product ... - Flirting With Fitness

Do you want to detox your body to improve your energy levels, your skin, or your overall wellbeing? Although there are many natural ways to detox your body, many consumers opt for over-the-counter pills and other similar products, such as detox food pads. If you are one of those consumers, you must read product reviews.

As nice as it is to hear that you should read all detox product reviews, you may be wondering why. First, many consumers make the mistake of believing that just because a product is for sale that it works, is worth the money, or is safe. That isn't always the case. You can see this in recalls. Many items that were once thought safe were later recalled due to potential dangers. By reading product reviews online, you can save yourself time, money, hassle, and your health.

In terms of money, detox products and their prices vary greatly. On average, you can purchase a 5-day supply of detox foot pads for $15 to $30. Detox pills, also commonly marketed as cleanse pills, can sell anywhere from $10 to $300 for a 30-day supply. Is this money worth it? Sure, if the product works. The only way you will be able to determine so, aside from trying, is to read product reviews online.

In terms of time, it is not uncommon for a detox program to last up to 30 days or more. For example, even though you can purchase 5-day supplies of detox food pads, some recommend you buy two or three weeks work. Although putting a couple of pads on your feet or swallowing two pills once a day is very easy to do, you could waste time. If you buy a detox product that does not work, you may not know for sure until your 30 days are up. In half that time, you could have accomplished more with a 3 or 5 day water fast, juice fast, or the Master Cleanse.

In terms of health, a product will be recalled in the event it is determined that the product in question is dangerous. However, many unsafe products go undetected and the recall process is not easy or short. So, just because a product is available for sale on the market, it does not necessarily mean it is safe. That is why you should always read detox product reviews first. In addition to "this product works," or "this product doesn't work," you will find health focused reviews. If anyone suffers minor or major health complications from a product, like a rash with foot pads, they will state so in their review.

When reading product reviews online, you will find that very few products review have a five star rating. In fact, you should not expect to find one. With that said, use your best judgment. There should not be more complaints than compliments. If the majority of the reviews you are reading are negative, save your time and money and find a new product.

As highlighted above, you can save yourself time, money, and a major hassle by first reading detox product reviews online. Although there are hundreds of products available to help you detox or cleanse your body, there are other approaches. Water fasting, juice fasting, the Master Cleanse, and the consumption of all-natural, organic foods, can also detox. These approaches, aside from organic foods, do have risks, but at least you know exactly what you are putting into your body.

Official: Egypt tells Israel tanks needed in Sinai

(AP) ? In the first direct contact with his Israeli counterpart since taking office, Egypt's new defense minister defended his country's increased military presence in the Sinai Peninsula, saying it is needed to fight terrorism and assuring him it is only temporary, Egyptian officials said Saturday.

The officials ? one from Egyptian intelligence and another from the military ? said Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi called Ehud Barak on Thursday in their first conversation since el-Sissi became defense minister earlier this month. The phone call followed grumbling from Israeli officials about not being consulted before Egypt's leaders deployed tanks to the Sinai Peninsula, the strip of Egyptian land that borders Israel and the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli defense ministry refused comment. An Israeli defense official said no conversation took place between el-Sissi and Barak. The official spoke on condition of anonymity due to the extreme sensitivity of the matter.

But as the new defense minister, el-Sissi at some point would have to speak with senior Israeli officials, particularly after they publicly expressed their concerns about Egypt's deployment of heavy weaponry to Sinai.

Under the 1979 peace accord between the two countries, Egypt is allowed to have only lightly armed policemen in the zone along the border with Israel. The treaty stipulates that significant military moves by Egypt must be coordinated with Israel.

Egypt used attack helicopters and armored personnel carriers in coordination with Israel to go after militants suspected of being behind the Aug. 5 killing of 16 Egyptian soldiers in Sinai.

Later, however, Egypt deployed U.S.-made M60 tanks to Sinai without consulting with Israel, which drew objections from the Israel despite the fact that it has long encouraged Cairo to crack down on militants in Sinai.

Israel does not view the Egyptian military buildup there as a strategic threat. The problem, Israeli officials said, is with Egypt setting a precedent by moving troops to Sinai without coordinating the move with Israel first.

Israeli officials stressed that significant military moves by Egypt must be run by Israel first, giving it a veto of sorts over Egyptian security strategy.

Israel has the most powerful military in the Middle East, and Egypt's new military deployment in Sinai is not viewed as a threat. In addition, the two nations have been at peace for decades and ? despite some turbulence in their relations in the wake of Egypt's uprising last year ? remain in close contact regarding security matters.

Israel has itself been a target of Islamic militants based in Sinai in recent months and wants to see Egypt's security forces reign in the lawlessness that has swept across the desert peninsula since longtime President Hosni Mubarak was toppled and his powerful police force disappeared from the streets.

In his phone call with Barak on Thursday, el-Sissi also assured the Israeli that Egypt respects the nations' peace treaty, the intelligence and military officials said on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of relations between Egypt and Israel at this time.

In Egypt, the president's spokesman could not be immediately reached for comment.

Israel-Egypt relations have grown increasingly complicated since the June election of President Mohammed Morsi, an Islamist and member of the Muslim Brotherhood who is Egypt's first freely elected civilian leader.

Morsi's sudden move earlier this month to replace longtime leaders of the Egyptian military familiar to Israel following the Sinai attack has added to the tensions. El-Sissi served as head of military intelligence for two years before assuming the job of defense minister from Hussein Tantawi, who held the post for 20 years.

The conflicting reports seemed to reflect sensitivities that were also apparent in an incident last month after Israel said Morsi wrote back to Israeli President Shimon Peres, who had sent the Egyptian president a letter wishing him well on the start of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. The president's office denied sending any reply.

The letter was a potential embarrassment since Morsi's Brotherhood group has long been hostile to Israel and has said its members in government will have no contact with it ? though they have promised to preserve the landmark peace treaty.

The confusion surrounding the letter might have stemmed from a protocol mix-up. It was sent by the Egyptian Embassy in Tel Aviv to Peres by fax and by courier ? and was on the mission's stationary, not the presidency's, though it is written in the name of Morsi. An Egyptian Foreign Ministry official and an official close to the presidency told The Associated Press that Morsi has no intention to communicate directly with the Israelis and that he mandated the Foreign Ministry to take over routine contacts with Israel. Both spoke on condition of anonymity.

Venture Capital Fund Raising | SocalBooks.com

Success starts from great ideas. However, to be able to grow this idea and reap the profits, one must have the financial capacity to support its needs. Raising start-up money or capital for a business will involve the help of a venture capitalist. Fundraising can be done in different ways and can vary from one business to another. For instance, raising funds for a non-profit organization is slightly different from raising funds for a for-profit organization.

Fundraising Strategies for Corporate Firms

Firms plot fundraising techniques to have the finances imperative for sustenance of short-term operations and to financially support long-term expansion endeavors, including mergers and procurement. It is considerably vital to be able to raise funds from private investors ? both venture capitalists and angel investors. By working with these experts and gaining their support, you will be able to raise funds you require to accomplish goals.

Start off by going to the venture capitalist after the firm has already started developing. While an angel investor shells money in a completely unique concept, a venture capitalist will want to check that the firm or business has already grown and expanded in even the slightest ways. This said, it is important to go to a venture capitalist once you?ve started growing your business or after you?ve obtained support from an angel investor.

Another tip is to look for a venture capitalist who carries experience in your particular service market. By having ample experience in your particular area, the venture capitalist will more likely understand what is going on and what you plan on doing. As a result of mutual understanding and clear lines of communication, you can expect better results from your pursuit.

Present your business plan to the venture capitalist and talk regarding your business. Avoid wasting their time from listening to you about how you are going to be a good leader or how you have tremendous amounts of experience. Remember, the venture capitalist is more interested in your idea rather than your previous achievements. For a venture capitalist, time is money. So the more time you consume, the more money you waste. Summarize your goals and ideas in the sense that the venture capitalist is able to understand you right from the start.

Fundraising for Non-Profit Organizations

When fundraising for a non-profit business, nail down a focus on who or what the cause is all about. This is the main selling point of non-profit organizations. For for-profit organizations, money is the goal, yet for non-profit, cause and goodwill are the focal point.
