As the Federal Reserve pumps billions of dollars into the economy with the hope of stimulating job creation, Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan said that the Fed is bailing out President Obama "at the expense of monetary policy."
The third round of quantitative easing, known in financial circles as QE3 , will enable the Fed to purchase $40 billion of mortgage-backed securities on a monthly basis.
"I'm not a fan of QE3. I wasn't a fan of QE2 either," Ryan, R-Wis., told Christian Broadcasting Network's David Brody in an interview conducted Friday but aired today. "In the long run it will do more harm than good but what this is, it's the Federal Reserve and the monetary policy trying to bail out the fact that we have terrible leadership on fiscal policy from President Obama."
Ryan said that savers and senior citizens living on fixed incomes "are losers" as a result of the Fed's move, and he said it "undermines the ultimate credibility of our currency" - something he called "a necessary pre-condition for economic growth."
"We have loose money already so it's not a question of having too tight of a monetary policy. We have exceptionally loose monetary policy," Ryan said. "What we don't have is White House leadership, Senate leadership on getting this debt under control, on getting tax reform, on cleaning up the regulatory system. We have really bad fiscal policy, it's crippling growth, it's why we have the highest poverty rates in a generation, it's why we have 23 million people out of work."
During a campaign stop in Pennsylvania on Saturday , Ryan also called the move "sugar-high economics."
Asked by Brody whether there was "political motivation" behind the nonpartisan Fed's move, Ryan, the chairman of the House Budget committee, declined to judge Fed chairman Ben Bernanke's motives behind the timing of the announcement. "I don't think that's something that's appropriate to do from a perspective of a person in my position but I don't think it's a good idea to do this easing," Ryan said. "The Fed balance sheet is approaching around three trillion dollars. This kind of easing hurts savers, questions the credibility of our currency and I think ultimately the costs outweigh the benefits." Ryan is on a three-state campaign swing today, stopping in Indianapolis, Ind. and Des Moines, Iowa before traveling to Bedford, Mass. later this evening.

If you?re a fan of biographical entrepreneurship stories, then you?ll really enjoy Less Work More Money: The Entrepreneurial Life Plan by Matt and Kristen Hawkinson (@moremoney) and Maxie McCoy.
This start-up business book tells the story of Matt and Kristen Hawkenson and their journey from corporate employees to successful entrepreneurs. ?I received a review copy of the book a few weeks ago and have been reading through it during the weekends.
Have you been daydreaming about MORE?
Less Work, More Money is a business book targeted to the person who finds his life as an employee fundamentally unrewarding.? If this sounds like you, then you will feel like the authors are talking your language and telling your story.? The book starts with Matt looking back on his days at GEICO and watching the guy with the coffee kiosk outside his office building:
?He stood outside in the courtyard in his sandy flip flops for just a few hours every morning.? Handing cappuccinos and coffee to the men and women making one last stop before bustling into work?.day in and day out I watched.?? From behind the glass of the insurance company office window, I saw him pack up the cart and roll it away around 10 o?clock.? Then he headed to a day that was all his.?
This Is The Everyman?s Entrepreneurial Story
I think that what I enjoyed most about this book is the overall scrappiness and messiness of it all.? This isn?t some elegant story about the foundation of some huge chain or conglomerate or mega-brand.? It?s a story of a regular guy, setting a goal and then going about the messy, clumsy and obstacle riddled path to get there.? That?s what makes this book worth reading.
Hawkinson writes the way you or I would tell a story; sharing the day-to-day journey that moves you from his epiphany about owning his own business, to the story of how he met his wife, the death of his best friend and the entrepreneurial roller coaster that he still calls his life.
As you read the stories, you?ll see the familiar themes of perseverance, hard work, relationship building, and constant innovation.? The book isn?t meant to persuade or dissuade you ? it?s meant to inform and educate you so that you can make a good decision about what?s waiting for you outside the corporate office window.
Stories, Lessons and Resources
You can probably read this book in a leisurely weekend.? It?s only about 200 pages and practically reads like a novel.? Each chapter starts with a slice of entrepreneurial life and then gives you the lessons that Hawkinson?s learned from that personal experience.? The final part of the chapters includes actual bootstrapping resources that they used and how they applied them to their business.
The Title Isn?t Exactly Right
While I have to admit the title is irresistible, I?m not sure that it?s all that accurate. ?Especially after reading the stories and experiences that the authors shared.
Less Work, More Money might be a noble goal, but I wouldn?t say that the authors worked any less at building their business than they did at their corporate jobs.? In fact, like so many others ? they invested their share of blood, sweat and tears.? The only difference is that the stakes were higher and the rewards more meaningful because they were working for themselves rather than someone else.
If The Hawkinson?s Can Do It, So Can You
The most inspirational aspect of Work Less, Make More are the authors themselves.? After reading so many books about ?extraordinary entrepreneurs?, the Hawkinson?s show us that the only extraordinary that matters is how committed you are, how persistent you are and how resilient you are.
You don?t need to be the next Steve Jobs to enjoy the fruits of owning your own business.
This book is ideal for anyone who feels like another cog in the wheel of the corporate machine and is looking for inspiration to go off on his own.

The recent news from the Conference Board of Canada regarding Toronto?s condominium market validates what we at Baker Real Estate have been saying for months ? that low interest rates, strong immigration and the downsizing of baby boomers will keep things on an even keel for some time. The simple fact is that single-family homes in the Greater Toronto Area are out of the financial reach of many buyers. In July, the average price was over $508,000, so it?s no surprise that when it comes to sales, single-family homes continue to take a backseat to condominiums. Condos remain a viable alternative, especially for many of the 100,000 people who migrate to the GTA each year.
Of course, our mortgage rules are stricter now and economic growth has been modest, but the drop in sales because of these circumstances will be gradual. Even if interest rates rise, predictions are that they will stay relatively low for quite some time. And let?s face it ? these rates are still phenomenal. In addition, according to the study, condo prices will most likely rise 1.3 per cent this year, then 2.5 per cent in 2013 and an average of 3.6 per cent from 2014 on, which is a slow, steady, healthy gain.
In the report, the inventory of 800 unsold condos across the GTA is predicted to grow by about 25 per cent over the next two years as new residences come onto the market. Again, this is a far cry from the drastic situation in 1992, when there were 2,340 unsold units. Things are looking great.
I?ve said it dozens of times ? everything in this market is relative, and it is gratifying to see this kind of good news in the media challenging the ?bubble? theory. Condominiums are and will be a fabulous lifestyle and financial investment for years to come!
