Three months ago, we?noted??(t)here is something fishy going on with a malicious Apache module.?? Dan Goodin at?Ars Technica?got closer to the bottom of it. It?s called Darkleech and it turns out attacks go back at least as far as?August?and effects as many as 20,000 sites.?Mary Landesman at?Cisco indicates?the common issue is SSH.? Also on?Ars Technica, Arbor Networks? Dan Holden presents a compelling argument the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Cyber Fighters (QCF) are probably not who they seem to be and they have very deep pockets. Symantec has?connected?last month?s cyber attack in South Korea, Jokra, with?an earlier?Korean incident in?2011.??It?s been a tough week in financial services. Bob Sullivan at MSNBC did a?dark summation?of the attacks on banks over the?last six weeks.?Last Friday, the?New York Times, with the help of?Allan Paller, conflated the?South Korean Jokra?attacks with those of?the QCF, but the RISK Team does concur with their assessment.? American Express suffered a?defacement. Bitcoin exchange?Mt.Gox?also suffered from a DoS attack.
The paragraph above is taken from the executive summary of the RISK?Team?s weekly INTSUM report.Verizon security product customers should?access the full INTSUM via your portal.
