Another sweltering day in North Texas Friday, but still not as oppressive as it is in the Midwest again today. ?Check out the 3p temperature readings:
?
The hot weather has been thanks to an upper level high pressure system anchored over the middle of the country. ?That high will shift westward over the weekend. ?You can see on the map above that there are quite a few showers and thunderstorms over the Southeastern U.S. ?There is an upper level disturbance causing that?and it?s moving our way into Texas by late in the weekend.
That disturbance, combined with a cold front by Monday moving in from the north, will enhance our rain chances greatly here in North Texas. ?It looks like that front will stall out somewhere nearby for the entire week. ?Also that big high pressure heat dome should remain stationed in the Western U.S. and not right over us.

It is still unclear as to exactly how much rain we could see from the higher rain chances. ?The storms will be scattered over the area and some places will get more rain than others. ?It appears that generally the farther east you live in North Texas, the better shot at seeing bigger rainfall amounts. ?Here?s the GFS model output for rainfall amounts through Wednesday. ?Some models are showing quite a bit more and some less. ?Stay tuned!
